Our Church History

The Living Word Christian Ministries began on August of 2002. It was born from a vision God birthed in Pastor Michael J. Carter to provide a venue where the presence of God abides and a place where people are taught truth and encouraged in a family atmosphere. With great excitement and anticipation, we held a wonderful installation service at Berry Elementary School in Charles County and began holding our services there the following Sunday. However, God blessed us a few years later by allowing us to move from Berry Elementary school to our own leased building. It was a building attached to the Master Suits Hotel. After a few weeks of modifications, we were able to hold our first service there on the first Sunday in February 2003. This was a special day for us as we realized that with God's grace, unity, and a little hard work we can get things done.

As the ministry vision grew we soon looked for a permanent house of worship. Again, God provided. In 2012 we were able to purchase the Proctors Inn in on Bunker Hill Road. We transformed an old drinking hole into a place of service impact and worship. Only God can take something that was used for sinful purposes, sanctify it and turn it into something that brings Him glory. Sounds a little like our lives don’t it. We all should be Thankful for God's grace and mercy that transforms lives from the world to something that brings Him glory.

Our history and track record as a ministry that accomplishes set goals and operates in excellence will speak volumes into our future.  Our vision is principled in God's word. Our history unfolds a vision that speaks to developing and impacting lives. We are a measure of the body of Christ, ambassadors and children of God. Called to develop, walk in, extend and express His life. For His purpose and to His glory!
